Powers On but won't show anything

Hello,

I have a laptop HP Pavilion 15 , when I boot it at first it shows a blue screen with a sad face. After that I turn it off and tried to turn it on again but it shows nothing on screen, the light on the power button is on but the screen doesn’t show anything, I tried to connect it with HDMI to a display but it doesn’t show anything even in the display.

Hi,

Can you hear the fan start up (or feel the air from the vent), or the HDD spin up?

Try the 30 second power reset:

Disconnect the charger (if connected), remove the battery, press and hold the laptop's Power button for 30 seconds and release, insert and switch on the charger (leave the battery out at this stage) and try to start the laptop.

If it starts and you have a display, allow it to boot all the way to the windows desktop, allow the HDD activity to settle down and then shut down the laptop in the normal manner.

When it has completely shutdown, switch off and remove the charger, reinsert the battery, reconnect and switch on the charger and try to turn on the laptop.

if it starts with a display, allow it to boot all the way to the windows desktop, allow the HDD activity to settle and then check the charge status of the battery. if it is charging, allow it to fully charge before switching off the charger and disconnecting it from the laptop.

The sad face was added to the windows BSOD in Windows 8 and above.

If you don't even see the POST screen (or HP Logo) when you turn it on, then something is wrong with the hardware. The hardware fault might have caused an error when booting the time you saw the BSOD screen, so the details of that error could help you narrow it down.

To start with, try removing the battery and leaving the system unplugged for about 5 minutes. Then, see if it will attempt to boot after that and be ready with your camera to take a picture of what that sad, blue screen says.
