Why is google play service has been stopped?

I don’t know much about Samsung phones and I couldn’t tell how that behaves and should be supposed to behave on yours. But, what I can tell for sure, is that the only device in my home running on Android is plagued by Google’s Play Services which has been randomly crashing every now and then, apparently for no reason and right after that causing crashes on a bunch of Apps relying on it for notification. Judging from the hundreds of thousands one star reviews on the Play store it seems the Play Services acts more like a virus than like an App. Either it is used to convince customers it’s time to buy a new device or the Dept. in charge of its development is a kind of !&&* where they kick developers who don’t fit into Google’s favours :P

By the way, there’s no Play services App as such, it’s just a process that runs under the hood. Its nearest relative is the Play Store, but you will find that among other Apps.
