Why is my washer getting stuck on the rinse cycle?

I have a Whirlpool washer model number WTW4816FW and when I try to do a cycle it will wash, but when it finishes the rinse cycle it starts rinsing all over again. I have been canceling my current wash and then restarting with a rinse and spin and it works fine. How do I fix it to where it will rinse in a normal wash without getting stuck on repeat?

When I plug it back in, the locked light turns red for a couple seconds then goes off and there is a ticking noise every 5 seconds or so

Place the cycle knob on "Normal". Then turn one complete to to the left.

Then three clicks to the right.

Then one click to the left.

Then one click to the right.

Now all the lights will begin to flash.

Now turn to the right until the "Wash, Rinse, Complete" lights are all lit.

Press the Start button.

Unplug the washer from the wall for "10 seconds".

Plug it back in.

No Lights = Fixed.

For me, the reset procedure above worked for 1 load, then the same problem again: the rinse cycle repeated itself.

On my daughter's washer the capacitor came loose and broke a wire. The spin cycle would swing the capacitor around until the wire broke. It wouldn't complete the rinse cycle. Once the wire was repaired and the capacitor secured, it worked fine.

I really don't think it's a heavy load. I only have 4 small things in there, and they're not unbalanced.

door

Yep. Always make sure You have the correct weight and All the clothes should be well adjusted. So that load will be equal throughout the drum.
