Replace faulty logic board

Hello,

I have a diagnosis of a Faulty logicboard on my 27 3.2Ghz iMac. If a change the motherboard can I use the old Cpu from the faulty board of do I have to change everything, board and Cpu.

It depends… What was the fault? Lightning or surge damage could have damaged the CPU besides the ports. You also may have a bad power supply.

Apple also altered the 21.5 modes enough times with soldered CPU’s as well as RAM and missing PCIe slots. I honestly don’t try to remember which options are viable to each series unless I open it up to check it out. On the most part the lower end models tend to have soldered CPU’s so its possible yours is as well.

It is not a 21.5 but à 27”. Só the cpu is not soldered. Thanks for your answer Dan.

You'll be fine all of the 27" models have socketed CPU's
