Replacing logic board and replacing thermal paste on cpu upon reassemble.
There is a chip under the heatsink in fact there are two. Cleaned old paste do I put new paste in both areas under the heatsink and on the back of logic board.

Here’s the iFIXIT guide you should follow iMac G5 17" Model A1058 Logic Board Replacement. Jump down to the last step which shows the CPU chip which needs the paste and as stated: “as well as its copper heat sink attached to the midplane.”
