Why is my computer doing nothing when power button is pressed?

Previously when I use to power my laptop on it just used to glow the power light continuously without any blink and nothing else happened. But now, when I press the power button, not even power light is glowing. I'd appreciate if anyone could help or I've assumed the laptop dead. Thanks!
