screen blank unless at certain angles

this seems similar to the issue of most of the Mac notebooks where the screen is blank at certain angles except this is happening with a Dell XPS13 that's been faithful for the last 2-3 years. a few days ago the screen started to flicker before turning off and despite a reboot the screen didn't come back on. it wasn't until the screen was adjusted that it was determined it works at certain angles and immediately goes black at other angles. any suggestions on what to do for this?

In my experience it is usually the cable that either hast to be re seated or replaced. If not the cable it could possible be the lcd itself. I would start with the cable.

I've opened up the machine to verify that the cable is intact and that there are no awkward bend points. That said, I noticed the display is somewhat loose with some give before opening it past the 90 degree mark. seems like the trigger to turn off the display is getting triggered prematurely due to this... any suggestions on this particular model?

I would tell the pc to do nothing when the lid closes and see if that has any effect. If it is still doing the same thing i guess you would have to replace the sensor. I have never has to replace one before.
