Home button flex replaced, touch ID not working

Hi all,

I replaced my home button (long) flex cable and now my touch ID is not working anymore. The home button, the click, is working fine. What could be the problem? The home button is still the original one.

Thanks

Gekozen oplossing

Check both the long home button flex and the short flex on the button itself. Something is broken in that line. It could be a tiny tear in one of the corners or it could be the connectors with a damaged pin. You may need to use magnification as it doesn't take much to cause problems.

If the long flex is damaged, you can replace it. If the Home Button has a damaged flex, it "may" be repairable but generally it is not.

So a 'China' long flex should also let the touch ID work with an original home button?

They all come from China :>)

Okay, thank you. But can a long flex cable let the home button touch id work?

door

Yes it can. The only other causes of touch ID not working are if there is a small enough tear in the home button to only affect touch id, components knocked off of the logic board during disconnection, or a defective extension flex (long flex that runs underneath the LCD shield plate.
