Component broke off of board, is it necessary?

The screen got destroyed on this phone, so I disassembled it to salvage the board. However, I noticed there was. loose contact piece in the shell. I don't know if it serves an actual electrical purpose though. Take a look at the photos. Thanks.

There are small flex cables either on the back side of the case or somewhere else in the phone that connect to those points when the phone is reassembled. I would put it back together and see what components it has an affect on if any.

So it appears to come in contact with a small copper plate on the back cover. The copper plate goes nowhere and there are several of them on this case identical to it. Is it safe to say they are ground tabs?

More than likely. If you don't mind posting a few pictures side beside so that I can see the corresponding points I can answer that more accurately.

@snakes202 I knocked off exact same piece and trying to determine how to best reattach it.

Here’s how its looking on my phone:

I was thinking maybe I could reattach it with solder, but I’m not sure how well that will work since there’s no pad there.
