Dead iPhone 5s after starting once.

Hi to all, a friend gave me a dead iphone 5s, i checked it with iTunes but it didn't show any life signs.

I tried to replace the screen and, without closing it, i connected it to the power, it suddenly started and seemed to work well, so i shutted it down and closed it with all the scews and brackets in places.

Now it won't turn on no matter what, i tried once more to replace the screen, i changed battery and tried different buttons combinations but it returns no life signs at all, I hope someone wouls be able to help me.

Thanks in advance

Davide

The iPhone 5S is prone to Long-Screw Damage. That's when an incorrect, longer screw is put into the wrong standoff for the Screen Retaining Bracket. Check Step 17 of this guide; you will note that each screw is of a different length.

Normally, when this occurs the phone can stop booting forever but in your case, it works when the screws are not in place. that could be because the damage is light. Take a look inside the standoffs to see if the bottom is black. If the wrong screw is or was in place, then it scratches the top layer of the pcb and can potentially damage some traces that run directly underneath.

If this is your problem, then it will require a micro-soldering repair.
