Vertical Colored Lines, No Touch

Received an iPhone 5s from a relative with seemingly no display. It turns on (I can toggle the switch and get it to vibrate) and it's recognized in itunes. I've replaced the full LCD/touch assembly. The best I can get it to do is show a few, random, colored vertical lines. The touch doesn't seem to work (I was able to get the screen mirrored using Quicktime). I've tried disassembling and reassembling the connectors of the display numerous time. I've tried an IPA wash with toothbrush. Nothing seems to bring it back. Any ideas before I finally give up?

iPhone 5S is known to have display circuit failure. One of a few components that power the display can fail and lead to issues with the display.

If you post a picture of the appearance of you phone, we can possibly help identify the cause and possibly confirm the above.

Otherwise, you should be using a known good screen (a new screen is not necessarily known good). But if the new screen you already used caused absolutely no change, it is probably a board issue such as what I described above. Or the connector is damaged from some prior repair attempt or liquid damage.

Yea, my thinking was bad board. The phone has no repair history or liquid damage to the best of my knowledge. The screens both act the same. Just wanted to see if anyone had any other things to look at before I throw in the towel. Right now, with all my playing with it, I can't even get the vertical lines back. If I get that, I'll post some pics. Otherwise, I'll call it a loss and move on. Thanks!

Those are usually a simple fix if you know your way around microsoldering.

If you pay shipping back and forth (board only), I’ll do it for free. Sometimes I like to help fellow “iFixers” when something is both straightforward and a shame to go to waste.

That's a really kind offer. I guess it doesn't hurt to send it your way. If you can do something with it, great. If not, no loss as I was at the limit of my abilities anyway. How do I get it to you?

OP, little do you know that Rany is one of the top micro-solderers and he will be giving you a free repair!
