Why does the speaker not come up as a device on Bluetooth

I’ve had the speaker for a few years and recently it’s been very slow when connecting to my phone by Bluetooth. I thought it would be a good idea to forget the device on my phone then reconnect, however when I forgot it the speaker doesn’t actually show up on a list of devices that I’m able to connect to, which is the same for everyone else around me.
