My phone's touchscreen won't work!

Here is a link showing the cost of the digitizer (touchscreen) for your phone from various suppliers. (be aware that not every phone in this link is your model - place the mouse cursor over the description to read full title or click on the image).

As is seen in this ifixit guide, replacing the digitizer in this phone is not for the novice repairer.

I suggest that you contact at least 3 reputable, professional mobile phone repair services and ask for a quote for the repair. If all quotes are close in their estimates, at least you will get a reasonable idea as to the actual cost of the repair, (and you already know the retail cost of the replacement part).

Also a professional repairer will give a guarantee on their work, usually 30 -90 days. Don't forget to ask them about this. If they don't or hedge about it move on.

In the meantime if you need to get important data off your phone you could try connecting a USB mouse via an appropriate OTG (On The Go) adapter cable and use it to navigate through the phone, perhaps to send your data via WiFi or to backup the phone using the phone's backup feature or if you need to connect it to a computer for direct access. (if you have a PIN lock on the phone, try a USB keyboard first, via th e OTG to unlock the phone by keying in the code, then switch to the mouse. Navigate first to the setting to remove the screen lock type to make it easier until you have finished then restore it back etc.. Be aware for some reason, unknown to me, not all USB keyboards will work this way. Also if you have a pattern type screen lock then none of this will work to access the phone)

This is only a precautionary measure in case something untoward happens during the repair process. It shouldn't happen but you wouldn't want to lose data because it has.
