Touchscreen not working after digitizer replacement

I replaced my digitizer because the glass was cracked. The new digitizer looks very different on the connector part.

New piece:

Old piece:

I tried connecting the new piece. The home button works, but not the touchscreen. If I try to use again the old digitizer, everything works fine.

My question is:

as far as you know, is the new piece even compatible with my Ipad mini 2 (model 1490)? When I bought it, the description said it was for that model too.

Het nuttigste antwoord

I think the issue is there isn't any or sufficient shielding to the ribbon cable and digitizer border.

See how the old piece has some taping, it's minimal but could have more taping.

The new piece needs that yellow kapton tape around here:

Additionally you could wrap it around the yellow marked area at the ribbon cable that plugs into the logic board to keep it nicely in place.

Thank you. I didn't plan on buying kapton tape, but when I did it worked. At the beginning I was trying to use the tape from the old screen, but there wasn't enough for the connector part.

Thank you very much, again :)
