Why is my home button repeatedly tapping?

I have been noticing when I charge my phone through an extension cable my home button repeatedly taps. I can hold the home button and it will tap by itself over 10 times per second really fast like that and It is annoying because when I want to go back to the home screen from an app I have to go in the tabs screen (the screen that appears when you double tap the home button) and select my home screen manually.

I have not found a solution for this topic online and I have not even found anyone with this issue online so if you could help that would help me out a lot.

Thank you

Other than trying a different charge cable, there's not much any independent repair shop can do to repair the Home Button on the iPhone 7. Your best bet is to go to the Apple Store and have them take a look.

Minho is right but apple is just going to try to sell the product. 3rd party Repair store could do a full diagnostic on your phone and tell you what's wrong but yes only apple can replace the home button

5/1/2019, mine is actually doing that too. Has been doing it about once every few months or so recently. I just turn it off and turn it back on again and it stops it from multi-clicking.

If its only doing it when ur using a certain charger then try replacing the charger… I have had and chargers cause screen issues before when plugged in have had it happen if their not giving the right amount of power as in too little power for the phone… and that sounds about right if ur using a longer cable, or damaged cable or dodgy plug … usually the standard length cable is that length for a reason :)

Either U10 IC on the home button or the cable to the U10 IC was broken. Both case is fixable.
