Replacing iSight/Bluetooth/Wifi (cable only)

I damaged the connector of my MBP's iSight/Bluetooth/Wifi cable when installing an SSD.

I've bought a replacement cable but as my iSight/Bluetooth/Wifi are working fine I'm wondering whether I actually need to remove the glass over the screen to replace this cable or whether it just connects somewhere before it goes up behind the screen?

(more info - I think I broke the ground pin off the connector because odd LEDs in my display are flickering, causing light & dark 'spots' along the bottom of my screen)

UPDATE: I've successfully replaced the iSight cable but my LCD screen is still showing dim/dark spots along the bottom, as if alternate LEDs in the backlight are out... is this possible? Any ideas why it would be??

I am in the same situation but more dramatic... My Bluetooth is not working anymore.

I just looked at the LCD replacement tutorial and I think the cable is separating in two at the bottom of the screen. One half is going into the Wifi/BT module, the other one is running along the screen to the camera on top.

Maybe there is a connector at the bottom of the screen where the cable from the logic board comes from is connected and an other connector for the camera cable to start going ?

If so it may be easy to just open the black cover at the bottom of the screen.

You say you have the replacement cable. Is it one piece from the board to the camera (with a split in two after the first third) or does it go strait to the wifi/BT module ?

PS : excuse my english, I'm french.

Ok I found this other post and it looks like the only way is to remove the glass over the screen...

Why does my wifi not come up (the camera doesn't work either)?)

Hi Ben, yes I managed to get a replacement cable, and yes unfortunately it is all in one piece - I haven't quite gathered the courage to try and perform this repair yet, although I have bought one of those suction cups needed to remove the glass! :-) I will hopefully try to repair soon......

From where did you buy the replacement cable?

Hi.

I did fix my Laptop.

My cable was ok. It was the connector on the main board that was damaged.

I saw it with a magnifier. One pin was bend over the one on its right, creating a short circuit. The consequence was only the lack of BT.

Fortunately, with a needle and a tiny microscope lenses (and a lot of patience) I finally got the pin back in place. Then I reconnected the cable to never disconnect it again and... Boom !! My BT is working again.

So if anyone think his cable is damaged, please check your connector before disassemble your screen. Because this connector is not robust at all.

Hi! I have the same issue. The thing is, i really messed up when replacing the optical drive with a HDD. I ripped it off line one of the other connectors. I'll try and see if I can fix it without replacing it. I was afraid I'd have to weld it back in place somehow. Software geek, hardware noob. Boo.
