Fan Spin, Green Light, No Chime

No idea if anyone will have any idea here with MacBook board level repairs.

I have a 830-00165 Board that was liquid damaged. I was able to find a short under the CPU last week and got it working. Then it stopped working again after I assembled it. I got to the point where I have replaced the resistor on PPBUS_G3H_R which is R7006.

I'm still not getting any image on the screen. Any help would be great.

If the MacBook is not lighting a USB mouse after 1 minute of initiating boot and the CPU is cold, it is not posting. If it is lighting this, the issue is no image.

Find out what problem it has, then we can advise. No image and no chime are completely different issues and need to be investigated differently. If it is not passing POST, check out the CPU power rail and SPI ROM area. With board level repairs, it is very difficult to advise with the more complex issues over the Internet without looking at it; thoroughly check over the board using a microscope to see if there is any minor liquid damage or corroded traces

The cpu is getting warm and the fan spins faster when it gets warmer as it should. The mouse does not light up though.

Sounds like it is booting fine, since the fan is ramping up. You aren't plugging the mouse into the logic board upside down, if it is out of the palmrest assembly? The mouse lights up after a while, not straight away, after it chimes.

This means it is passing POST and has a no image issue; make sure you are using a working screen, check for EDP_PANEL_PWR. If this is missing with the working screen plugged in, replace the LCD connector first since it is not recognising the screen being plugged in (as long as you are sure it is definitely booting)

Reece How would I check that EDP_PANEL_PWR is working or not? Sorry for the late reply I didn't see an email about this.

To add to this i'm not getting 3.3 off of PP3V3_S0SW_LCD. The LCD had been working until i sat it down. There wasn't anything on the desk t my knowledge that could have caused a short.

You search for it on board view and measure it, same as you measured PP3V3_S0SW_LCD. If EDP_PANEL_PWR is missing, it is not recognising a screen being plugged in, therefore firstly replace the connector since that is most common.

Check ferrite beads around LCD connector, you may have blown one if moving the screen about whilst it was on.
