The small internal date time battery data what type is it, where?

The internal data battery does not hold the date and time when replacing the main battery on my Olympus E-PL1. What type of battery is it? and where is it located?

that sounds write changing a small capacitor inside without a circuit diagram and component list could be dodgy! I am capable with a soldering iron. Olympus service won't tell and want to charge more than the camera is worth. If anybody knows the value of the capacitor ( farads) it will quite small. I should be able to get the component and fix it Thanks rokin154@crowbot.

They call these components "super caps". It's possible you could locate it on the board. Likely the farad rating would be kind of high with the voltage being low (5V, 12V). Best of luck.

It's likely that the camera uses a capacitor to keep the clock and memory up while changing the main battery. If the cap fails (as they sometime do) then you'll see this problem. If that's the case the only solution is having it repaired.
