Is my harddrive about to go?

Hello,

My harddrive is making noises i never heard in 3 years(it is a odd sound when being used at times)

Should i get my external harddrive and make a backup?

All i know is i have constant curuption issues

I know what i am buying for this computer when this drive goes

Also,i heard a light "click,click,click" starting Safari

im getting a WD scoropio black 500GB

Update

So far i am backing up my iTunes on it

All i need off is a handfull of files

A drive that is making repeating clicking sounds is toast, period. There is no redeeming a drive that has reached that level, and no piece of software can save it, because you're dealing with a hardware issue that is not going to improve. Back up your data, replace the drive, and move on. You can keep using it of course, but go forward with the expectation that it will soon fail completely and whatever data is on it will soon be irretrievable.

How long have you had the drive? Is it still in warranty?

I would back it up as soon as possible. Apple includes hardware diagnostics, Apple Hardware Test (AHT), usually on the first disc of your recovery set. Some of the newer models have it built in as well by holding down the D key during boot.

I have discs from a late 2007 macbook pro because Apple flat out replaced it for me when i had MOBO issues

Open up disk utility and verify the drive straightaway. Also make sure you have backups.
