Do I necessarily need to re-calibrate my fans?

So, I have a dual 2.0GHz G5. The logic board died, so I'm looking to replace it. I've found one that has the same specs exactly.

So here's the big question: If I do a swap like this, will I need to re-calibrate the fans? Or will they remember what they were running at before and be okay?

As a side note, I called Apple about possibly coming in to get the fans calibrated. They denied my request due to the "age of the machine". This may or may not be true of other stores, but it's definitely worth calling ahead in advance.

Your fans will go screaming off into the night without calibration. You will need either the original installation disk or ASD 2.5.8 to calibrate the fans.

A buddy of mine has the 2.5.7 version... would that work, or do I absolutely need 2.5.8?
