Why is my built in flash not firing when it opens?Opened it but stuck!

there are connectors inside i tried to connect together and the bulb started working fine but the trigger spring stopped working. They won`t work at the same time. The flash will fire while it is closed and make some burning smell. Any help is much appreciated,
