How to connect the fans from a power mac G4

I have the fans of a power mac G4 that I want to use to cool the inverter of my solar panels.

Can anyone tell me on which voltage they run and which of the cables to use. I just want to run them on fix voltage (12v DC if possible), and fixed speed.

thanks for the help.

Serge

All fans will have their voltage markings on the side. Its important to note that voltages will stay static, as long as you are using the same type of fans in your setup, but the amperage will need to increase as you add more fans in sequence.

Dont add more amps than you need though.

The easiest way of understanding it, is if the voltage is a water pipe, the amperage is the water pressure. you can have a larger pipe than what you need, as long as you restrict the water flow, but its best to keep things as accurate as possible.

I created an airflow shield in the office that we use when replacing and cleaning iMac glass panels using old fans that works great. see below.

Just be very careful when dealing with electricity, and especially careful when selecting your power supply. If its going to be left on constantly and is unmonitored, it would be advisable to include a built in redundancy of some kind to trip incase of a failure or a fault, that way you dont risk it causing risk of fire or damage if something were to go wrong.

If you are unsure of how to calculate the amps and voltages based on the total number of fans you have, there are automatic calculators online if you google search for it.

I hope this helps.
