I have to repeatedly press the OPEN button to get the drawer to open
After I turn on the player or want to change discs, I have to press the OPEN button numerous times to get the drawer to open.

It is probably due to the fact that the device is older and the open button is starting to fail from normal wear and tear. If it is a huge annoyance I would just recommend getting a new player as it most likely isn't worth trying to find a new part and repair the device, unless you want to attempt the repair for the heck of it :)
