unable to play sound

my hp system just stop to play sounds if in play music or videos it wont play why?

Check that the volume is not set to 'mute'.

Try the earphones connection to listen if there is audio there.

Go to Control Panel > Device manager > Sound, Video and Game Controllers and check the status of the audio controller. Is there a red cross or a yellow exclamation mark against the audio controller entry?

What OS is installed in the laptop?
