How do I get my SD card reader to work?

I have a Dell Lattitude laptop.My SD card reader does not work and I have multiple SD cards.Is there a download or other solution to get my old photos loaded in?Windows has discontinued Windows Essential so I cannot get Windows Photo Gallery.Is there a similar program that would work?

Thank you.This may work but I'm trying to find an updated version of Windows Photo Gallery that's compatible with Windows 10 so I can do some basic photo editing for posting on Facebook and websites.Any suggestions?
