97 Honda Accord (automatic) won't turn over.

Car won't start. Turn the key and the dash lights up, but both the park light and drive light r on. The car is in park. It will however come out of park n change gear but will not turn over-

@meganmk1 , Megan, If shift indicator is showing in Park and Drive at the same time, set the park brake and try starting car with shifter in neutral position. If it starts look at getting the shift linkage/cable adjusted or possible worn shifter. If no go have the battery and starter tested, check all connections and ignition fuse/relay. Some of the auto parts suppliers offer free battery and starter testing like Pepboys, Nappa, Advanced auto parts,etc and some of the guys are very knowledgeable and may have seen the issue often and put you on the right track.
