Seagate drive is not detected by MacBook?

I have a Seagate backup plus portable 2TB drive and when I plug it into my MacBook via USB the light on the drive turns on but I can't see it on my MacBook,

I can even unplug it and my MacBook doesn't report back that I didn't remove it properly.

The drive is less than a year old and has been used very few times and the light on the drive is solid not blinking. How can I fix this?

Thank you.

Your MacBook's USB port may have a problem with its power services.

See if you can get a powered USB thumb (AC powered) which you can connect the drive to and then on to your system. Does the drive show up on the desktop then? If it does this implies the fuse link burnt that protects the system from over voltage coming in the USB port.

Double check your power bricks used by your other USB devices. Its possible you switched your bricks around so the lower voltage device got the wrong unit plugged in.
