Lost left speaker channel

My mid-2011 Macbook Air 13" lost the ability to charge the battery. I replaced the IO board with replacement from iFixit (IF188-069).

The power is now working perfectly, but the left speaker (the one plugged directly into the IO board) does not make any sound. I've tested the new headphone jack and both left and right channels work fine.

I opened the case back up and disconnected and reseated the speaker connection, but I'm still getting no audio on that channel. I don't see any damage to the wires or connector. Any ideas for next steps in troubleshooting or repair? If the board were defective, I suspect there would be more wrong with it...

It is probably the speaker that is blown, but there is definitely a chance of the board not working. The left and right speakers have the same connector on your MacBook Air, so if you were to remove the right one and plug it in to the left one (or get your hands on another left speaker), and test the computer like that, you would know whether it's the logic board or speaker that's faulty.

Hmm. I'm not opposed to using the right speaker to test or, I think I'd probably plug the left speaker into the right to see if the fault follows it (rather than risk damage to the functional speaker). Good idea.

Off to see how most people reglue mac speakers.

Taking your advice I plugged the (possibly dead) left speaker into the right speaker's connection on the circuit board and got the Mac boot chord. Speaker is functional. It appears to be a problem with the IO board. Contacting returns. Thanks.
