Nothing happens when I try to start up

The last few days the machine has been acting weird, yesterday it would start up and then after about 5 minutes it just dies, It did this several times, and today I opened it up, blew out the dust and put it back together again, there was a red led light that came on, it started I was able to back up and then it died, this time when i push the power button there is no light or power there is a very faint noise when I push the power button but you have to be right next to it to hear it.

Is this a power supply issue like I've been reading?

First reset the SMC. Unplug all cables then wait at least two minutes. Plug the power cord in. Plug the keyboard and mouse in.press the power button. or open the side panel and press the SMC-RST switch located slightly below and to the right of the row of diagnostic lights. Use something non-conductive to do it.

I tried all the above and still nothing, there is a very faint buzzing sound when I press the power button, but it just wont start.

My guess is that the Power Supply is dead. One easy thing I do to determine if the PS is bad is I stick my nose right up against the PS vent where the fan is, I then take a good sniff. If it smells like its burnt or you can see smoke coming from it after you try to start it a bunch of times then it is a clear sign that the power supply unit is gone. I do this for any computer not just PowerMac's.
