Have you power cycled the phone? Attempted to do a manual hard reset using the external buttons? I've had a hard reset fix these type of problem before.
Double and triple check those connections, possibly reattach an old screen to validate the functionality of the new screen. Any backlight problems? Sometimes I default to a blown backlight too fast, but it can happen.
