Why is my new battery not holding a charge?

Hello i purchased the ifixit battery replacement kit for an iphone 5s, replacing it went smoothly with the help of your installation guide.so i turned the phone on and let the battery drain down to %5 then charged to %100 and for some reason its not holding a charge, if anyone could help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated.
