Boot issues after screen/digitizer replacement

I just replaced the glass/lcd/digitizer with a full kit from iFixit. I also replaced the battery and loudspeaker. The unit was a refurb from AT&T and the battery was glued in, not tabs to pull, so that took heat and prying from the left. I did the screen unit last.

After replacing everything and checking connections, the phone would boot to an Apple logo and get stuck or flash between the logo and a red screen.

After taking it apart, I discovered that with the front camera connector off, it will boot into the OS just fine.

This is a unit from iFixit so it is under warranty, I just wonder if there is anything to try before asking for an RMA.

Sounds like a camera issue. Faulty cameras can cause issues where it shows a black screen and text on boot, but I haven't heard of a red screen issue with the camera plugged in.

Try out the camera from the old screen, see if it works. If so, you know it is an issue with the new camera on the new screen.

So I swapped out the flex cable/camera/mic from the old camera and it boots just fine now. Mic doesn't work which was a problem. We'll wait to see what iFixit tells me about replacing that on Monday.

So, iFixit sent a replacement assembly, which booted just fine. Problem fixed.
