How do I close the case
Opened the case to change battery and hard drive ribbon. Now I cannot get the case back together. Also, how do I interpret the diagnostic mode?

Hi push the front and back together,there are small latches on the back that snap into the grooves in the rim of the front. The diagnostic mode is a set of tools to test the functions of the iPod.

Have you understood the locking mechanism? On the classic it works like this:

You might have to bend the latches back in position to get them to lock again.
Or did you get a battery that's to thick?
