ok so i've got a psp 1000 and i can get it to turn on it plays games fine but charging does not happen it wont even run on the power cable when the battery is not in the psp does anyone out there have any idea what is wrong and do you think it can and should be saved

Well its ether one of two(maybe both)
1. you port is bad, depending on how long you have had the psp the port can get worn out. try blowing on it or buying a new port then replacing it.
2. The battery is bad. the battery can be shorted out. ether replace it with a known working battery or buy another
From experience I say its the battery but for my brother it was the port.

This is old, I know, but there seem to be other issues as well. My Port is clearly fine (measured if it provides power to the board and it does, battery is new. Still no luck.

my experience says you need a new battery. there is a chip inside where software will allow the PSP to run. Hence why people use Pandora Batteries to hack the PSPs
see if u have a friend that will let you borrow their battery before you purchase one, that will be appropiate.

my psp wont open too and i replace my battery with my brothers battery
and they both work fine
