Can I modify Thunderbolt display to replace mindisplay with a USB-C?

Hi all,

I have a new Macbook but also a 2012 Thunderbolt display. The Macbook only has a USB-C port and I was wondering if anyone has come across people replacing the Thunderbolt display's Mini Display cable with a USB-C one.

Is this even possible?

Any Mini Display-to-USB-C adaptors were very quickly (and suspiciously...) discontinued shortly after they were released in 2015.

Any advice or info would be much appreciated.

Henry

Sadly, there is no means to connect a new MacBook which has a USB-C port to a Thunderbolt display presently. Hopefully by the end of next month we might be offered an answer from Apple ;-}

Just to keep this updated, there is now an adapter available from Apple - https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/product/MM...

Yep! I thought this hub would do it, sorry nope!

It's only DisplayPort compatible! Not Thunderbolt.

Note the compatibility line at the bottom 'Apple Cinema display only with Mini Display Port' no listing of the newer Thunderbolt display. I know I was hoping too ;-{
