De Microsoft Surface RT (model 1516) is de eerste tablet die door Microsoft is uitgegeven. De tablet werkt op Windows RT, deze versie is speciaal ontworpen om te werken op een tablet. Om deze tablet te repareren heb je schroevendraaiers nodig, alsook gereedschap om hem te openen.

Are These Charging Contacts Burned on my Surface RT?

So this has happened, not quite sure what to do, I've ordered a new charger, but also want to know if I should be replacing the charger port? Is there someway to clean it or is it toast? I have found the instructions and parts here, I could do it, just wondering if I MUST..... The Surface RT is working but I don't want to use it until I get this sorted out, I use it daily, but have other computers, will be going through withdrawal .... All help appreciated, thanks in advance.

New charger arrive, the second I plugged it in I smelled burning, so I know it's not the charger, next step is replace the port and then if that doesn't work, get a new tablet ...

Replace the charger and clean the contacts on the tablet with some alcohol and use #0000 steel wool (very fine) to remove anything that will not come off w/ the alcohol. Make sure the tablet is off if and when you use the steel wool. You could also use a plastic bristled brush. Nothing too abrasive.
