Home Button Not Working After Replacing Dock Connector

I replaced the dock connector on my iPad and now the home button is not working. I thought maybe it was no longer making contact with the 2 contact points on the new dock connector so I unscrewed the home button from the Glass/Digitizer and held it onto the connection points on the dock connector and pushed the button but still nothing. I performed a continuity test between the contact points on the home button and I do receive a positive test when I push the button so I know the home button is good. I also connected the two contact points on the dock connector with a paperclip and it didn't perform the home button action (This step I am not sure if that is actually how the home button works on the dock connector but I thought I would give it a try)

Is it possible that I received a bad dock connector? I purchased a new one and not a used one from iFixit.

Thanks!

Yes making the 2 pins connect, or the left pin connect with the something metallic on the frame/ground should activate home button. Obviously disconnect the new dock connector since this is what recently changed, and try again. If no change, try with the old connector back on. No need to insert it in place, just overlay it over the board and plug it in.

If still no change, let us know to take it from there.
