phone completely dead and cannot do hard reset or connect to iTunes

my phone had trouble last night with auto rotation off, compass not working and other apps like argus. while poking around settings to fix, phone just died (with battery at around 60%). tried to reboot with hard reboot, connect to iTunes but it doesn't even show up. nothing works and it seems completely dead. please kindly help.
