Trackpad and Keyboard not working after login

Hi, yesterday I was just using my laptop like usual and all of the sudden my keyboard and trackpad stopped working. My cursor moved to the top left corner of the screen and was stuck there. Then my laptop opened up the bluetooth subject in systems preferences and started to search for an external keyboard. None of my keys were working except my power on/off. I tried restarting it a bunch of times, nothing worked. I left it over night and it started working again fine this morning, then two hours later did the same thing. I waited a few hours, it started to work again and here we are.

Does anyone know how to get this to stop permanently myself?! I have three midterms next week and absolutely need my laptop for them, I can't be sending it away to be repaired right now!!!

Also, the weird thing is, that my trackpad and keyboard work fine on the login screen, I am able to enter my password and everything but as soon as I login it freezes up and keeps searching bluetooth for an external keyboard.

Please help!!!

Same problem. Keyboard and trackpad work only in login screen. After login they wont work. My bluetooth mouse works. Don't have an external keyboard to test but I'd suspect it would work. Tried safe mode and keyboard and trackpad wont work there. Tried new trackpad and cable but problem still same.

Do you have access to an external USB keyboard & mouse/trackpad? I would give that a try so you can diagnose things.

Most likely you either had spilled something into your keyboard (it might even be dry now) or the battery is pressing from below interfering with the keyboard and trackpad.

To check your battery you'll need to install this app: coconutBattery. Paste a screenshot of what it is showing you in your question so we can see what its telling you.

The last possibility here is the keyboard/trackpad firmware needs to be upgraded. Under the About This Mac' click on the System Report... button to open the hardware profiler. Here we want to look at the USB section and we need to open the hub that lists the built-in keyboard & trackpad. Take a screenshot and post it in your question for us to see.

Time to replace the trackpad! MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013-2017) Trackpad and here’s the guide MacBook Air 13" Retina Display 2019 Trackpad Replacement

The trackpad in this series is the USB hub logic which both the keyboard and trackpad connect to. Then, the two signals travel up a common cable to the logic board MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013-2017) Trackpad Cable which is also a song possibility of failing if you got your system banged or wet.
