Can you purchase a new HD with Windows 7 or 8 preinstalled?

My hard drive is going bad on my E Machine. When I purchased this desktop the operating system was preinstalled. No separate system recovery disk was with it. I can purchase a system restore disk which will remove the OP and reinstall bringing it back to factory defaults. Then of course you have to do all the custom downloading of your antivirus and a bunch of definitions. This would be okay except I need to purchase a hard drive. Any ideas or places to search?

No a hard drive needs to have the OS installed on the machine as it takes into account the hardware in the computer to set everything up . So preinstalling a OS will not work . You can however clone the drive if it hasn't failed. A clean install is always a better solution with a drive that has bad sectors as cloning a drive like this just copies your problems
