Why is my car not firing?

No fire from coil, have replaced igniter and coil.Have P-code 1300 dtc on. Run test on that code it leads me back to igniter and coil. Also have crank sensor reading according to scan tool. Car would eventually start if tried long enough, but has quit firing altogether. can a cam sensor be the problem? Coil will fire on key turn to start.

Does your ignition fire off of a signal from the cam or crank sensor? It will be one or the other, they aren't that different, the cam just spins at 1/2 the speed of the crankshaft.

If the cam(or crank) sensor is bad, your ignition system will not know when to fire, thus no spark.

Just what I found from way back when..

My 1990 Celica with a 5sfe 4cyl engine had a crack in the coil. I couldn't see it until I removed the coil and started really looking at it close...in the cold or wet the car wouldn't start and I would kill the battery cranking the engine. I ended up switching out the coil, (the crack was in the epoxy coating) and I NEVER had another problem starting it.

Just from my experience on that engine....since the 5sfe, 1mzfe, 3mzfe are so common of engines I thought I might chime in.
