iMac hibernates on its own
My Imac g5, mac osx 10.5.8, 2.1 ghz, 2.5gb ram powermac 12, hibernates on its own after 5 minutes of use, while using it. It is not because of the settings. i turned off auto hibernate.

Open it up and inspect the capacitors for swelling and or corrosion. Also check the diagnostic LEDs on the logic board and tell us what they are before and after the shutdown. There are two (cuda) buttons on the logic board one is for resetting the PMU and the other will restart the machine with the back off. They are located about mid-logic board to the left. Restart this way with the back off.
The bad capacitor iMac G5 computers have serial numbers where the first 5 digits fall into the ranges noted below.
Serial Number ranges:
W8435xxxxxx – W8522xxxxxx
QP435xxxxxx – QP522xxxxxx
CK435xxxxxx – CK522xxxxxx
YD435xxxxxx – YD522xxxxxx
