Verizon goes out of their way to disable diagnostic mode, and other “secret codes” we as a repair community should definitely give them some heat about it.

Carrier-branded phones are a plauge that should have ended long ago, thankfully they aren't very common here in england anymore, we banned the sale of network-locked phones in 2021.
