How can I get the replacement home button to stop sticking?

I replaced the front panel assembly on a broken iPad mini, and all the components are working properly, but the home button momentarily sticks when it is pressed down and then pops back up. It appears to be slightly misaligned, but still functions. Do I have to take apart the home button assembly or can I just pull up the screen and press down on it in order to align the home button?
