Why is my Blu Studio not charging?

Earlier today I tried charging my Blu Studio 6.0 on my computer using the charger cord. The phone was off as I did this.

After a few minutes, I tried turning on the phone. It turned on and I left it alone overnight. When I unplugged the cord from the computer the next morning and tried turning on the phone again. It didn't turn on.

I tried charging the phone using a wall outlet for an hour, and I got the same reaction. It would turn on when it was plugged in but would die when removed from a power source.

my blu studio 5.0 is now two days old and when i plugged it in to charge today it wouldnt charge.....

So this is what I learned. Happened at the wrong time. Open the device carefully. On the USB port you'll see glue that prob dripped on from the casing . on my viva air it was black in color. I think these Chinese phones have bad or no QA. As u use the devices excess glue drips down over the solder points and causes the device e to not charge. Use rubbing alcohol. To remove the black glue. When I put it back to gather the captive buttons stopped working. There was also black glue on connector port. Once clean the device will work till u bust the screen like I did :)

Oh shoot wrong post to wrong board. Im use to explaining why these phones stop charging .

Probably what happened was that your phone is over charged, when you left it charging overnight the phone was able to receive too burdensome a load thus damaging the battery, which ends up draining its charge too quickly. I recommend you change the battery for a new one. here is a guide that will help you to replace your battery. Blue Studio Battery Replacement

To keep from overcharging your phone download an app named "BATTERY FULL NOTIFICATION. When the battery becomes fully charged 100% it will make a beeping noise or you can set it to make any type of sound alerting you.

Same problem I had. My Blu stopped taking a charge and the only way I could use it was to have it plugged into it's charger, which would only sustain a 2% or 3% charge. When I unplugged it, the battery would drop to 0%. Then it stopped functioning even with it being plugged in and would not take a charge. I thought I had over-charged my battery several times previously and assumed my battery was shot. Did some research and rather than buy a new battery or attempt to change the usb port completely, I simply tried to CLEAN the port. First I removed the battery. Then I used a plastic dental pick to remove any dirt, fuzz or debris. Then I folded a paper towel into a small point and dipped it in alcohol and pushed it around inside the port to remove any oxidation on the interior metal within. Finally, I very carefully bent that thin little metal strip tine thingie down toward the center of the port opening with a metal dental pic (again, dipped in alcohol). Perhaps a needle would work just as well, I don't know. I couldn't use the plastic dental pick for this, as it was not strong enough to budge the metal tine. I didn't actually "bend" it, but merely moved it down very slightly toward the center of the port opening and let it spring back to it's original position. Finally, I put back the battery, plugged it in and VOILA! It's now charging! Hope it works for everyone who's suffering this maddening problem.

My son and. I received two bluestufio 6 hd less than six days ago for xmas. My son was using the flash light on the phone to show me something. The stupid phone went dead and has not booted back up even after being recharged. I tried his charger and I also tried my charger. I tried the hard reset everyone speaks about on the net. Should I expect the same thing with my phone? My son is very disappointed

Ok... This is why ans this is how u fix it. Blu phones are decent for the price. But QA sux. When i took apart my blu vivo air i saw that glue melted or somehow got onto the usb soder to circuit board. Simply go over with 97% isopropyl alcohol and while your at it do the other pars that are glued tha may have goten on to other parts. For instance the home buttons also had glue and had. To be cleAned. The first attempt i some how got glu o. That part. Second disassemble fixed th buttons. Its just glue. Clean it and charge on

Mine is doing the exact same thing. Do u know if this is covered under factory warranty. I've read several blogs and it appears to be a defect with these blue products .

I read on another web page that you need 1) unplug the phone, 2)take the back lid off and hold the button immediately after the 2 volume buttons (third button from the top to the bottom) down for 30 seconds, 3) Put the lid back on 4) connect phone to charger 5) Power Phone On.

This took care of my problem, hope it works for all.

I HAD the exact same problem. I did some research, tried a whole bunch of different stuff and even considered buying a new battery (since I too have left my phone charging overnight on many occasions), and if that didn't work, I would replace the USB port.

But first, I decided to simply CLEAN the USB port. I removed the battery, then I used a plastic dental pic to pluck out any dirt and debris. Then I folded the corner of a paper towel into a sharp point, dipped it in alcohol and rubbed it all around inside the port to remove any oxidation on the internal prongs and central metal tab. Next, because plastic isn't strong enough, I used a METAL dental pick (again, dipped in alcohol) and very, very slightly BENT the metal tab more to the " inside center" of the port by sort of rocking it back and forth, again, very slightly. You definitely do NOT want to BREAK it! Lastly, I replaced the battery, plugged it in and VOILA! It began taking a charge! I charged it to 99% and unplugged it. That was yesterday. This morning, with the phone at 35% , I plugged it in to top it off, but AGAIN it would NOT take a charge. So, I repeated the tab bending process from yesterday and it is NOW CHARGING AGAIN.

The bottom line, it seems to me, that BLU phones have a really cheap and crappy USB charging port, that's all.

I suggest: 1) Never over-charge your battery. 2) Download a Battery Charge Notification app.

If you don't happen to have a metal dental pic, I suppose you could use a thin metal nail file, or perhaps very thin tweezers. Hope this helps all who suffer this cell phone nightmare. (excuse the hyperbole).

There is an extra button in between the volume buttons and the off button. You need to take off the back cover, and press in the button with something like a paper clip and hold it for 20 seconds. Mine has been perfect ever since. Hope this helps

OK people. The inside cover reset button is real. I have a BLU R1 HD. It too wouldnt take a charge for nothing. I removed the cover and sure enough the button that I thought was just a piece of hardware is depress-able. I pressed it for 30 seconds (could probably just do 20...who knows). Plugged it in and HOLY CRAP!!! The charge screen image came on! I was soooooo close to just buying another phone cause it wasn't worth being repaired. What engineer was so insane to design this?

My Blu phone is a basic phone (2.0 CL5 government phone). I only have 2 buttons on the right side of my phone; a volume button and a power button.

I have a Studio Energy 2 which doesn't charge (phones currently at 3%), I had this happen to me about 7 months ago, and I returned the phone under warranty and they sent it back to me fixed. But now it doesn't charge again, which is super frustrating. Any one know what I can do to fix this specific model?
