I'm replacing the hard drive cable. Removed cable according to guide. See part# 605-3260 included but nothing in guide for its placement and part not seen anywhere within exposed areas around removed hard drive cable. What is it and what am I supposed to do with it? Can't see how to upload photo.

Take a look at the step 7 in this tutorial.

This is a rubber spacer. You have to place it on the hard drive bracket. This will separate the bottom cover from the cable and prevent another damage.
