Hard drive replacement

Block Image

I'm replacing the hard drive. When I try to lift the top case off there is a wire attached to the left side. Short black wire, I'm guessing that it has to do with the left speaker, ground wire, wifi connector or whatever. Prevents me from folding the keyboard back. Can I remove this? If so then how? Please see photo... wire is shown left of center and sightly up from center.

Thanks

I don't think you need to tamper with the keyboard in this situation it should come up with the housing around it. I have listed a similar model macbook pro below, its not the exact same but it does have the superdrive in the front like yours.

Check out this guide:

MacBook Pro 15" Core 2 Duo Model A1211 Hard Drive Replacement

There should be a ribbon cable holding down the keyboard.

I should have said I am struggling with the upper case. As you can see from the photo the wire is attached to the upper case ( far left edge of upper case, left and up from center in the photo) inside of a small black rubber projection.

Thanks for your response.

The Microphone Is just stuck to the top case, sometimes went the rubber gets warm, it gets sticky.. it is by no means attached to the top case. just grab it, it will pop right off. it goes in the little cutout part of the left speaker assembly just below it..

I found the HD replacement instructions for the model A1151, however my model is A1261 according to MacTracker. Was there a (installation) diff. between the early 2008 model and the late 2008 model
