iPad 2 touch screen not working after digitizer replacement

Hi, I have an iPad 2 which had a cracked screen, so I went online and bought a replacement immediately.

After the tear-down and replacement of the parts, I placed the screen on the device (without the adhesive) to test it before sticking it down. However the touch screen is completely unresponsive but all physical buttons work fine (home button, power, etc), So I wonder whether it's a faulty digitizer?

This problem is very frustrating as the iPad clearly works because the LCD is on, it syncs with iTunes etc. but without the touch screen, which without it makes it useless!

So I'm wondering what i could do next? Should I contact the company who supplied the new screen and request a replacement as I assume it's faulty OR should I assume that there is something else wrong on the iPad (ie logic board, faulty connector, etc!)

Thanks for reading and hopefully someone has some advice or even a solution to my frustrating problem.

i think that ,you have to make software after that you replaced the touchscreen.may be it will work fine.

Mine is somewhat similar I replaced the touchscreen desensitizer but it didn’t swipe properly. I have two gold pans at the bottom of my iPad too and don’t know what to do with them any suggestions of what I might have done wrong?

I had the exact same problem after replacing the glass on an iPad 4. The touch screen was totally non-responsive. I reseated the flex cable all the way in to where I could not see the white indicator stripe and the cable would not go in any further, then I locked the zif connector and it worked flawlessly.

Thank you for taking the time to post your solution.

Hi, should have commented back before now but anyways, my iPads touch is now working great! Turns out the connectors weren't pushed all the way in! Silly me! The white lines need to be flush against the connector and requires some force with a tool to get it in properly!

Thank you for having commented back on "The white lines need to be flush against the connector"! I had wondered why the touch screen replacement installed did not response. It works now. Thanks again!

You shouldn't be picking your own answer as the solution when it's obvious you didn't actually read what "con" wrote 5 weeks earlier.

Hi all,

I just did my first broken screen fix on the ipad2. omg crazy. I got it all back together and the slide feature didn't work. I came here and read your posts, opened it back up and my white lines weren't lined up. thank you thank you thank you! I thought I'd killed it! works great now, and its black! no more white ( I had wanted black to begin with!). Thanks again!

Thank you. Pushed the connecter in a bit more and bingo! works fine now.

Could you send the picture of what should be pushed in?, I cannot figure out what is the white line?

Before you start blaming the motherboard make sure the connections are pushed all the way into the connectors and retaining clips pushed down if it is then most likely a faulty screen

Thanks for the reply, all the connectors are fully plugged in. Display is working with the LCD, but still no touch. I'll get in contact with the screen supplier to arrange for a new one to be sent!

Thanks

Since this is actually the proper solution you should give "con" the credit.

Hi Con,

I have similar problem, however in my case only the lower part of the screen is not working.

Any solution you can suggest

YES~ This worked for me. The white tabs show up on the connection from the digitizer cable to the port where you plug the digitizer in. I used a black stick to nudge the connector in while holding the ipad down firmly. Now it works woohooo

Hi

I tried replacing digitizer on the iPad 2. After restarting the lower part of the screen seems to be irresponsive, while rest of the screen is working. Hence the problem is getting the onboard key pad to work. Please let me know what i could be doing wrong while replacing digitizer screen

I’ve attached a photo of the white lines that need to be pushed in right up to the host connector.

Same problem...wish I read this blog sooner about having the digitizer's connection 'flush' when installing... I just replaced six digitizers to six Ipad 2s and the touch screen sensitivity is not there on each of them...the home button works though, which really makes me wonder. I'm hopeful that fully charging them will fix the problem, they've been out of commission for quite awhile

There is a ic chip for the touch mechanism that

needs to be replaced it's Micro soldering

and a professional needs to do that

say what? no touch in iPad 2 will be screen flex or connectors. I've repaired hundreds and never seen a no touch iPad 2 that was ic related

door

Yes there is a ic to everything like back light and everything else

door

No man, not in the iPad 2. There is no backlight LED driver chip in the line between the main power ic, and the coil/diode/filter and then the LCD connector itself.

But the is a TON of misinformation out there.

This might help to clear it up: http://mendonipadrehab.com/entries/gener...

tiken, would you please give a link to this nebulous ic and note its exact location.
