Digitizer Replacement Air Bubbles

I purchased a front panel assembly from iFixit. I checked the digitizer out thoroughly and noticed a plastic film over the front of the new digitizer but for the life of me I couldn't find one on the back. I tried removing what I thought was a clear film but it seemed like I was going to tear something off that I wasn't supposed to.

After replacing the digitizer and removing the front film I notice air bubbles between the digitizer and the LCD. Nothing in the instructions mention removing any film from the back of the digitizer and there isn't a tab indicating that a film needed to be removed. Can anyone tell me if the front panel assemblies from iFixit have a film on the front and back of the digitizer?
