Screen not working after replacement

I replaced the screen on an iPhone 5s and all went well until I turned it on to check it. The screen has a lot of vertical lines and will not respond to touch. See the image attached.

I have reseated the ribbon cables several times and the screen is obviously new.

Faulty screen had almost the same about a week ago.

I repair screens so I had a few extra to try and the next one was grand.

So you will need a replacement

You need to be very careful when bending the cables into place I find it's much easier to bend them when you have installed the camera flex so you can bend it around it and it's a perfect match

Jason did you ever get it sorted? Any updates?

Just finished working on a iphone 5s for a friend of mine and had the same issue. I plugged to old display back in to rule out the board and then tried taking out the logic board (in another line of work I saw a guy do this to resolve a malfunctioning screen I couldn't fix by the deadline). The little gray bricks that had been there before were gone.

Same thing happen to me a couple of time when replacing the screen. I found the issue being that the flex cable isn't making a good contact to the motherboard. I've found that most of the times all you need to is open up the iPhone again and make sure that flex cables are making a good connection and that it click onto the motherboard. If that doesn't fix the problem then you have a faulty screen, but 95% of the time it'll be the flex cable connection.

I am having a lot of problems with the iphone 5S and 5C Screens...A lot of them after installing new screen and powering up have Vertical lines and boxes.......And a lot of times the digitizers defective....

Are the 5S and 5C digitizer connectors hard to install? Ifeel as if this may be the root of my problems...

Sometimes the digitizer flex cable doesnt pop on nice on the 5S or 5C which may be causing the vertical lines and faulty digitizer...

Any insight on the matter would be Extremely Helpful....

I fiix about 20 iPhones a day and have been running through screens like crazy...

these Vertical lines and defective digitizers are driving me nuts....What can this be? Is it the LCD Flex cable? Is it the digitizer? Or am i just getting Bad Screens???'

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

I too ordered a new screen, camera, digitizer off this site. Figured I wouldn't mess with eBay junk. Reseated the connectors so many time I thought I would wear them out. Finally gave up on the lines. Put a unit from water damaged on the phone and work first time. Except for now there is a camera icon in the background.

what you call camera icon is the assistive touch. go to settings and turn it off.

That looks like a defective LCD and not a connection issue....

yes, 90% of the time it is the flex cable connection that causes Boxes and Vertical Lines on LCD. Here is a Great example of the boxes and vertical lines i am talking about...

If you want to troubleshoot the problem when you do a repair connect the screen to the iPhone without bending anything and power on the device. If everything works fine then install it properly. If after the installation something is wrong than you have 2 options. 1-You didnt bend the flex cable at the right spot or bent it too much which just broke your screen. 2-One of the 2 connectors (LCD/DIGITIZERS)have popped out of its socket and needs to be reconnected. When doing so make sure that everything is in place before installing the magnetic shield, on the iPhone 5s the connection doesnt seem as solid as on previous models (personal experience)

Most of the time, if the flex don't click when you insert them on the motherboard, they wont work. Try to make them click well, mostly they make a sound (tap) but if they don't, then there will be problem with display and touch. If touch is not responding, the first flex did not fit well. For display, the last three must fit well. I almost ordered a new screen after trying several times. But finally, I managed to get the click sound on all the four flex and when I powered it on, everything was ok. Wish you all the best

i had the exact same problem as everyone has described! black and white vertical lines and not responding to touch at all. I have no idea what the problem is. The weird thing is though when I tried to put back on the old screen it did the same thing! does that mean I did something wrong during the installation?
